Op-Ed: The Super PAC Characterizations of Amish Shah are Wrong

By Steve Tyrrell

A recent TV ad paid for by a super PAC in support of Jay Feely intentionally distorts Amish Shah’s record on sex offenders and public safety.  Feely’s campaign is desperate and cares not about the truth but I do:

So here are the facts:

Dr. Amish Shah is an emergency room physician and former team physician for the NFL’s New York Jets.  He knows a thing or two about healthcare.

Dr. Amish Shah did not vote to let convicted child molesters back into our schools.  Never happened!

Dr Shah was and is a staunch supporter of Kayleigh’s Law which made it a class 1 misdemeanor for a convicted abuser to contact their victims.

Dr. Shah is a public safety champion who is now endorsed by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Law Enforcement Association and the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Arizona. Both associations know his record of support for law enforcement, his ability to work across the aisle to get things done and have stated so publicly.

Dr Shah supported pro-law enforcement bills, including measures to lower the threshold for a felony fentanyl trafficking charge.

Dr Shah supported salary increases for Arizona Department of Public Safety officers and voted for State Budgets that included more than $200 million for border security, specialized law enforcement operations, drug task forces and local police grants.

Dr. Shah clearly supported a 2019 law that extended the statute of limitations for child sexual assault survivors to file civil suits against their abusers as well as any institutions that enabled such abuse, including schools.

My vote goes to Amish Shah because he has earned it and encourage other independent -minded voters to do the same.
