Arizona’s election officially kicks off this week and there is a lot at stake
Let’s remember: The truth matters, real leaders solve problems, and peddlers of misinformation never represent the public’s best interests.
Mayor Dave Ortega Gets My Endorsement
People who get a lot done often make success look effortless and that sums up the story at City Hall these past four years with Mayor Ortega at the helm.
We have reduced tax rates, doubled financial reserves, dedicated new parks, and invested in our infrastructure. We defended Scottsdale’s water supply while helping neighbors in Rio Verde Foothills secure their own. Reversed excessive building height allowances that threatened Old Town’s charm and adopted building codes that will reduce urban heat, conserve water, increase tree canopies, and lower utility bills.
We restored competitive police and fire pay, filled vacancies, started an ambulance service, and built state-of-the art police and training facilities.
With the passage of Prop 490, we will end the decades-long defunding and neglect of Scottsdale’s oldest parks and protect our Preserve from wildfires.
Good Leadership Matters. Join me and let’s re-elect Mayor Dave Ortega.
Clear Choice for Scottsdale City Council: Maryann McAllen
Lifelong Scottsdale resident and council candidate McAllen has spent the year campaigning to educate and protect residents while ensuring our parks, Preserve, and public safety are fully funded. She’s got my vote!
Who Defunded Our Parks Anyway?
In his succinct lawyerly way, Councilman Tom Durham sets the record straight on park funding and wonders why some elected councilmembers are so afraid of the residents. Watch HERE.
Betty Janik Goes Back to Teaching
Councilwoman Janik put on her teacher’s hat in order to counter the egregious misinformation campaign and her “490-491 lesson plan” has been a hit with residents. Watch her abbreviated remarks HERE.
Preserve Activists are once again volunteering in support of protecting our Preserve, public safety, and funding our parks.
Fire Fighters Walking in Support of Props 490,491
Scottsdale is blessed with dedicated Scottsdale Fire Fighters Association members that walk-the-walk (in the heat) to keep our City safe and secure.
Neighborhoods & Business Owners
Huge thank you to all the neighborhood leaders and business owners that have opened their homes, clubhouses, and restaurants for community discussions.
“The Tax Scam and Slush Fund street signs totally lack FACTS. Voters are way too smart. We KNOW our residents who worked 22 months on Prop 490 details are respected and have included full ACCOUNTABILITY for the projects. When we voters approve it overwhelmingly–for our children, grandchildren, and tourism revenue streams –we can look back with pride. Let us hope it does collect a billion dollars!!! Our 50-year old parks aren’t going to be cheap to upgrade nor is adding more fire and police protection.”
