Amazing news! We received an incredible $100,000 grant for the McCormick Stillman Railroad Park!! This historic grant was made possible by Senator Carine Werner – a strong champion for Scottsdale.
In the spring of 2025, Senator Werner reached out to me and asked if the city had any needs she could help with? City Manager Caton and I quickly put together a list of opportunities for Senator Werner to consider. She was struck by the beautiful opportunity to provide playground equipment for all children, and especially for disabled children. As an SUSD Governing Board member, Senator Werner knows how important play is to learning.
Senator Werner included $100,000 for adaptive use playground equipment in the 2025/2026 state budget. As you can see in the photo, the city has started the design work!
We are excited to cut the ribbon for this new playground equipment in the fall – and we hope you will join us! It was a tremendous honor to work with Senator Werner on this special project. We are grateful for her support!
