Tempe Residents Can Choose Between Happy Gilmore, Black Ice and Slap Shot and Learn More About How Tempe Wins By Voting Yes on Propositions 301, 302, 303 on May 16th
Getting the word out in a very creative way. That’s what The Arizona Coyotes and Tempe Wins campaign organized to transform an unlined landfill near Tempe Town Lake into The Tempe Entertainment District. The campaign invites Tempe residents to a day of FREE hockey themed movies at Pollack Tempe Cinemas on Sunday, April 9th from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Tempe residents will also learn more about Tempe Wins – and how a Vote Yes on Proposition 301, 302, and 302 on May 16th not only saves the Arizona Coyotes in the Grand Canyon State, it also means more revenue for the City of Tempe, but also significant environmental, educational and economic improvements too.
The FREE Movies will start at 12 p.m. and run through 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 9th, 2023.
The 3 FREE Hockey movies will play for one day only at Pollack Tempe Cinemas, located on the corner of Elliot Road and South McClintock Drive in Tempe.
Pollack Tempe Cinemas will offer the following movies FREE of charge — Slap Shot (1977), Happy Gilmore (1996) and Black Ice (2022). The movies will begin at 12:00 p.m. Seating is first come, first serve with limited capacity. Guests are encouraged to arrive early!
The first 16 attendees for each screening will also receive one (1) complimentary small popcorn and one (1) small soda. Attendees will be treated to special guest appearances and Coyotes swag.
The first featured movie is Slap Shot, released in 1977. This movie depicts a minor league ice hockey team that resorts to violent play to gain popularity in a declining factory town. Showtimes are 12:30 p.m. and 5:20p.m. for Slap Shot.
The second featured movie is Happy Gilmore, released in 1996. It features the well-known actor Adam Sandler alongside other popular actors and actresses. The movie is about a rejected hockey player who puts his skills to the golf course to save his grandmother’s house. Happy Gilmore showtimes are 12pm and 4:30pm.
The third featured movie is Black Ice, released in 2022. The documentary follows Black hockey players as they face systemic racism in the sport of hockey. The movies showtimes are 2:10pm and 3:10pm.
