Scottsdale’s Most Notorious Pet Owner Voted Against Bond Package That Included A Dog Park

By Shea Lincoln

After watching the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce’s city council candidate forum last week, we are shocked, shocked we tell you, that Scottsdale’s repeat offending pet owner Michael Auerbach voted against the critical Scottsdale bond package in 2019, overwhelmingly passed by voters.

Auerbach indicated his no vote during the forum.

This bond package had something for everyone. Improvements to public safety, upgrades to municipal pools, new sports field, and a dog park at Thompson Peak Park.

That last one should have won over Auerbach who has some issues when it comes to dog walking and leash laws.

In 2018, an Injunction Against Harassment was filed against Auerbach by a woman who claimed Auerbach verbally confronted her and later trespassed on the grounds of her apartment complex as Auerbach was walking his dog. No criminal charges were ever filed in connection with that incident.

But Auerbach was cited for a leash law violation in 2018. He paid a fine. And he was cited in late 2019 for having a dog at large in a park.  He pled guilty and paid a fine according to court records. Maybe that’s why Auerbach barked at the bonds. More dog parks would be too tempting for his weird ways with Fidos.

While we disagree with Auerbach’s opposition to a great bond package that pays for some much needed projects in Scottsdale, at least he is contributing to city coffers by paying his fines.

If you missed the live feed of the forum, here it is on YouTube. Kudos to the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce for organizing this forum and moderator Wayne Schutsky from the Scottsdale Progress for  keeping the forum moving and keeping the participants on a short leash, especially Auerbach.
