Community volunteers help deliver mayor’s personal message of gratitude and partnership
Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky today expressed heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated volunteers who helped prepare and distribute a personal letter to merchants and proprietors in Old Town Scottsdale.
The letter, signed by Mayor Borowsky, recognizes the vital role local businesses play in shaping the city’s historic core and invites their input on how to enhance the Old Town experience.
The outreach effort, which involved addressing and stuffing hundreds of envelopes by hand, was made possible by a team of civic-minded volunteers who donated their time to support Mayor Borowsky’s initiative.
“This was a grassroots effort in the truest sense,” Mayor Borowsky said. “Our volunteers showed up with sleeves rolled up and hearts full of pride for Scottsdale. Their work helped ensure that every business owner in Old Town received a personal message of thanks and an open invitation to collaborate.”
In the letter, Mayor Borowsky praised Old Town merchants for their role in making Scottsdale a premier destination for residents and visitors alike. She emphasized the city’s commitment to supporting local businesses and invited feedback on ways to improve infrastructure, streamline city processes, and explore new initiatives.
“You are not just proprietors — you are critical stewards of Old Town’s identity and its continued success,” the letter reads. “We look forward to collaborating with you to ensure Old Town Scottsdale continues to thrive for generations to come”
The Scottsdale Mayor’s Office plans to continue this model of direct outreach and volunteer-powered engagement in future initiatives.
“This is how we build trust and community — one letter, one conversation, one partnership at a time,” Mayor Borowsky pointed out. “To our volunteers: thank you for helping us deliver more than just mail. You delivered a message of unity and shared purpose.”
