Valley’s Only Private Motor Sports Club Sees Huge Surge in Membership During Pandemic

A Country Club for Racing Enthusiasts Nearly Doubles Memberships Since 2020 As the Facility Expands and New Residents Flock to Arizona

(MARICOPA, Ariz.) Similar to the surge in Arizona golf memberships during Covid, memberships are not only off to a fast start at the Valley’s first and only motorsports club, they are in full throttle mode.

Since opening in 2019, APEX Motor Club is reporting its best numbers yet with more than 250 members and more than half of those joining since the pandemic hit in 2020. Membership initiation fees run similar to golf country clubs starting at $50,000 and go up to $85,000. Yearly dues range from $5,000 to $10,000 a year.

APEX’s country of club for motor enthusiasts currently offers members a completed 2.27-mile private race track, just 20 minutes south of the I-10/Maricopa Road interchange or 30 minutes from Sky Harbor. The facility now boasts a car vault.

The Vault at Apex holds 42 member cars where upon arrival at the track, your car is fully checked and prepared for track usage. When members are finished, the car is returned to the vault where a comprehensive check of the vehicle is completed and notated.

Construction on new car condos starts in the next two weeks. They will be finished this fall and are currently sold out with a waiting list.

Construction also starts late this year on a 10,000-square-foot clubhouse with fitness, pool, restaurant and bar. It will be opening in early 2022 and a second track will also be finished in the summer 2022.

“It may sound counterintuitive but 2020 and 2021 have been fantastic years for APEX Motor Club,” said Vice President and Co-Founder Matt Williams. “After exceeding our projections, we are proud to have some of the country’s most influential automotive racers and racing aficionados. The sky is really the limit here at APEX and we are excited to continue expanding and growing this automobile campus.”

Williams attributed the surge in membership to two primary factors. The first is people looking for individual experiences caused by the pandemic dynamic that greatly benefited golf clubs in the area.  Second, Arizona is benefitting from a large transfer of residents and wealth as also experienced in Florida, Texas, Montana and other states.

The member base is comprised of both novices and competitive drivers from Arizona and out-of-state. Members currently competing (and winning) in SRO GT3, GT4, Radical Cup North America, Ferrari Challenge and Yokohama Drivers Cup.  Members can enjoy the track on demand and schedule more than 200 track days annually.
