Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty Lists Historical Pinnacle Peak Parcel for Sale

The 5-acre parcel was originally purchased by K.T. Palmer, one of the first land developers in the area and a legendary figure in local lore

Arizona’s luxury leader Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty is pleased to announce another hallmark listing in the state, one that is steeped in local history.

A 5-acre parcel near Pinnacle Peak that was originally purchased by legendary land developer K.T. Palmer in Scottsdale, Arizona and served as his favorite retreat until his final days is going onto the market.

Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty Agents Preston and Nancy Westmoreland are the agents for this property, which has a list price of $2 million

In the 1930s, long before any developments made the area one of the most desirable in all the American Southwest, Palmer (also the co-founder of the Town of Carefree) explored thousands of acres available and decided to establish his ranch in the parcel now listed for sale. He chose this land, which now borders the lake and golf course of Estancia, to raise his family, entertain his friends, and enjoy the natural beauty of the area in relative solitude. He had to build a road to the site, which at the time had no human neighbors for five miles.

He captured the history of the ranch in his autobiography “For Land’s Sake” writing, “I selected land on the Western slope of a northern outpost of the McDowell Range called Pinnacle Peak, the sight is gorgeous to behold. And on this particular piece of land were the largest and healthiest saguaros I had ever seen.”

This property was so special to Palmer that legend has it he made made a point of seeing the last sunset of his life on this land in 1976.

This parcel is best defined by its distinctive natural beauty. A stunning monolith juts out of the middle of the parcel, with ancient, weathered boulders and myriad saguaros peppered throughout. The cliffs, canyons and crevices when cleared would make trails that would rival any recreation area. A large flat area allows for a fantastic spot to build your own luxury home and relive the serenity that Palmer first experienced nearly a century ago.

“It has been a special experience to learn more about the incredible history of this property, and I look forward to finding the perfect buyer that will help it write the next chapter of its history,” said Agent Preston Westmoreland of Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty.
