(PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz.) He’s been in public service for more than 20 years. He’s distinguished himself as someone who closely monitors municipal spending, long before it was fashionable. Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio is endorsing Paradise Valley Vice Mayor Michael Collins in the town’s mayoral race.
Phoenix and Paradise Valley recently worked on a joint agreement to improve the facilities and parks at Camelback Mountain’s Echo Canyon which is in DiCiccio’ s district.
DiCiccio first served on the Phoenix City Council from 1994 to 1998. He was appointed to the Council in 2009 and was reelected in 2013. Along the way DiCiccio has been an effective advocate for the taxpayer, fighting wasteful spending.
DiCiccio said, “I applaud Paradise Valley’s ability to emerge from the recent recession without massive deficits and debt. It’s a lesson more communities should learn. I endorse Michael and hope our neighbors in Paradise Valley share my opinion. Between Echo Canyon and our Phoenix Fire Department providing service to Paradise Valley, we have important ties.”
Collins is PV’s Vice Mayor. Paradise Valley’s Current Mayor, Scott LeMarr is not seeking reelection after 22 years of impressive service to his community.
Collins said, “Sal DiCiccio is a strong voice for municipal accountability. We’ve worked together before and will again to improve both communities.”
Collins already has secured the endorsements of all of his council peers on the Paradise Valley Town Council.
Michael Collins was first elected to the Paradise Valley Town Council in 2010. During his time on the Council, he served as Chairman of the Public Safety Task Force which has helped to reduce the local crime rate, along with Paradise Valley’s great police force. He served as Chairman of the General Plan Advisory Committee which oversaw a general plan that received 80% voter approval. Collins was part of a team that championed a redevelopment plan for the decrepit Mountain Shadows resort.
Collins has also served on the Paradise Valley Planning Commission from 2007 to 2010. He is a former President of the Camelback Country Club Estates Association of Homeowners. Collins is also a veteran of the United States Navy. He and his wife Jennifer are proud to be raising three school-age children in Paradise Valley. Michael Collins currently owns and runs a successful business with 45 employees in seven states.
