Guest Editorial: Keep Scottsdale on the Resident-Friendly Path

By Councilman Barry Graham

Today, Scottsdale residents choose whether we keep heading in a resident-friendly direction or get dragged backward to the days when ideology ran rampant, roads stagnated, and developers called the shots at the expense of your water security and quality of life.
I’ve kept my word: High-density projects that change the character of Scottsdale got a firm NO from me. Short-term rentals that disrupt neighborhoods now face real accountability. And we stopped funding ideological programs and bureaucracies so we could fund water, roads, and public safety.
Our water is secure because we invest in it, conserve it, recycle it, and bank it. We can’t hand it over to the next apartment developer who wants a waiver. Raoul Zubia’s “taps are dry” campaign rhetoric contradicts our water experts along with his record of lobbying for thousands of apartments.
Simply put, Mr. Zubia represents the other path: handing the keys to City Hall back to developers, outside money, and the special interests that treated our city as their project.
That’s the choice before us today.
I’ve kept my word. Michelle and I will continue putting residents before special interests. Vote Barry Graham and Michelle Ugenti-Rita.
