By Councilman Barry Graham

That helped me earn the endorsement of Scottsdale police officers and firefighters.
For four years I have stood up for you against special interests. I have preserved our city’s character, protected your water, defended our neighborhoods, supported public safety, and carefully scrutinized how the city spends your tax dollars.
Standing up for residents means voting against high-density apartment projects that threaten our water, worsen traffic and impact our quality of life — including Axon’s 1,900-apartment development. I also voted to crack down on short-term rental bad actors and to fully-fund public safety that has resulted in historically low crime rates.
I have used my CPA skills to expose $150 million in cost overruns, leading to real reforms that are saving taxpayers millions of dollars. We stopped funding ideological experiments such as road diets and city-run homeless shelters, allowing us to make record investments in our water security and to restore funding for roads and public safety.
Being accountable to you instead of special interests has made me the target of record dark money attacks from apartment developers. It was worth voting to protect our city’s water, especially knowing that high-density apartments use seven times the water of single-family homes on the same size land.
Tourism and sales-tax collections are at record highs, and home values are rising faster than in surrounding communities.
I grew up in North Scottsdale. My wife and I are raising our sons in South Scottsdale. When reelected, I will keep putting residents from every neighborhood first.
My record proves I kept my word to you. That is why I ask for your vote.
