By Maricopa County Supervisor Mark Stewart
My office is aware that 3,126 early ballots for the 2026 General Election were mailed six days before the scheduled mailing date. Both the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office and the vendor have issued statements regarding the early mailing.
According to the Recorder’s office, “The correct ballots were mailed to the correct voters.” No voters were negatively impacted.
My office is reviewing background information to better understand the process and clarify the Board of Supervisors’ responsibilities related to vendor procurement and contract oversight. Understanding why the ballots were mailed ahead of schedule will help identify any needed improvements to the mailing process through the vendor.
Once the review is complete, I intend to request a public discussion of the findings to clarify the situation and explain what steps Maricopa County is taking to prevent incidents like this from happening in the future. My goal is to provide clear information, accountability, and a reliable process for Maricopa County voters.
