Tammy Caputi Announces Candidacy for Arizona House of Representatives in Legislative District 4

Business owner and community leader Tammy Caputi today announced she is running for the Arizona House of Representatives in Legislative District 4, calling it “the most important decision I’ve made in my public life.”

“We are at a critical juncture in Arizona’s history,” Caputi said. “We can choose to govern by doing what’s right for all Arizonans, or we can allow tribal politics and division to define our future. I’m running because this moment demands steady, solutions-focused leadership.”

Caputi is the president and owner of Yale Electric West, Inc., a lighting and electrical supply company she founded more than 22 years ago. After earning her degree from Wellesley College and an MBA from Simmons University, she returned to Arizona and built her own company from the ground up.

“I’m very proud of the company I’ve built. Many people told me it wouldn’t work, but here I am over 20 years later, still in business. That’s what Arizona is about”, Caputi said: “hard work, opportunity, and taking responsibility.”

Under her leadership, Yale Electric West has supported commercial construction projects across the Greater Phoenix area, creating jobs and strengthening Arizona’s economy. Caputi says her experience as a small business owner gives her firsthand insight into how state policy impacts job growth, costs, and competitiveness. “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy,” she said. “We need smart economic development, policies that support job creation, and a regulatory environment that allows businesses to grow, not struggle.”

Caputi’s campaign will focus on four priorities: strengthening Arizona’s economy, investing in early childhood and K–12 education, lowering the cost of living, and supporting first responders. “If we want a strong future, we must invest in education and workforce development,” Caputi said. “At the same time, families are feeling the pressure of rising costs. Government should be part of the solution. And we must ensure our first responders have the resources they need to keep our communities safe.”

Caputi says the stakes at the State Capitol have never been greater. “The decisions being made today will shape Arizona for decades,” she said. “Successful states don’t stagnate, and they don’t govern through division. They move forward with balance, long-term vision, and respect for every community they serve. That’s the leadership I’m ready to bring to Legislative District 4.”
