Our Top Of The Year Report: After Thirty Years And Five Hundred Clients With Twelve Haircuts While Still Innovating

A Dangerous Combination: Always Fighting Like A Scrappy Underdog, Only With Three Decades Of Experience

Jason Rose founded what is now Rose + Allyn Public Relations in 1996 perfecting the art of the unexpected. Thirty years later, the art of innovation is still baked into the firm’s DNA, along with three decades of experience and an electric and eclectic staff whose backgrounds are as varied as our approach to problem solving, crisis communications, public affairs, events, elections, public relations, now celebrating our 30th anniversary.

Communications Director Jennifer Parks-Sturgeon is a former Phoenix TV reporter with an almost supernatural ability to generate media coverage for our clients. She has been working at the firm since 2011. Mary Turner, a former intern at Rose + Allyn, has emerged as a youthful force in local politics managing campaigns and day to day operations at Rose + Allyn. Political Consultant Joe Downs is our data guru who can harness metrics on anything from politics to polo. Lisa Perez, a former Phoenix Planning Commissioner and a current west Valley school board member, is a master of grass roots civic engagement. She also worked at the firm in the early 2000’s before her recent return. Julia Brabant, another returning alum, is our resident wordsmith. Mike Scerbo, a former radio news director, serves as the firm’s Swiss army knife. Tempe City Councilman Randy Keating is our brand-new Events/ Marketing Director. More about him later.

Presiding over this innovation incubator is Jason Rose who manages to effortlessly move from crisis communication, to marketing, to major events, to charitable works, and beyond. Jason has created landmark Arizona events, produced an off-Broadway musical, preserved the financial viability of rooftop solar, protected a community next to the Grand Canyon from runaway development, and helped countless clients navigate the byzantine bureaucracies of government. Jason understands Arizona because both he and his company grew up here. His kitchen sink approach to serving clients has been delivering unexpected and unsurpassed results for three decades.

That combination was on full display during the last half of 2025.

We’ve Been Working Against A Disastrous Railroad Project All The Live Long Day.

And it’s had a profound impact. A group of ranchers approached Rose + Allyn after learning the multi-billion-dollar Burlington Northern Santa Fe corporation was planning to build a 4,300-acre railroad hub that would engulf the western Maricopa County community of Wittmann. The project would bring noise, pollution, traffic, and the threat of hazardous waste spills to Wittmann and the surrounding communities. Impossible to defeat Goliath? No. By November, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors rejected BNSF’s request by a vote of 5 to 0.

It took a healthy dose of innovation to get the job done. Rose + Allyn enlisted a documentary film maker to explain Wittmann’s plight. It worked with neighboring communities to unite the opposition. The efforts worked. But as in any horror movie, the monster refuses to die. The battle continues but so far the score is David 1, Goliath 0.

Axon. Ax-off. Axon, Again.

And the fight continues as billion-dollar taser manufacturer Axon tries to build a massive (1,200 unit) multifamily project near Hayden and the 101. They originally sought 2,000 units before this year’s ‘compromise.’ In 2025 Rose + Allyn worked with Taxpayers Against Awful Apartment Zoning Exemptions (TAAAZE) to get more than enough signatures to place a lame duck Scottsdale City Council approval for 2,000 units on the November 2026 ballot. Axon then spent stacks of cash on lawyers and lobbyists and managed to get a state law passed to prevent the election. They also trimmed their request. While Scottsdale’s Mayor and three City Council see 1,200 units as a win, TAAAZE does not, yet.

Colorado River Indian Tribes Make History And Make A Difference.

Rose + Allyn has been representing the Colorado River Indian Tribes for more than a decade as it fought for and won control of its Colorado River water allocation. As drought conditions persist, CRIT recently acknowledged personhood status for the Colorado River under Tribal Law. This vote of the Tribal Council has both cultural and legal implications. Rose + Allyn proudly worked with CRIT as news of this landmark legislation achieved nationwide coverage.

Weeks later CRIT would make history again when it signed a proclamation with the Gila River Indian Communities and the Central Arizona Project to work together to solve the crisis facing the Colorado River.

CRIT’s innovative approaches to dealing with the Colorado River crisis are in harmony with Rose + Allyn’s core principles.

Scottsdale Firefighters Mark Major Milestone With Comprehensive Outreach.

The Scottsdale Firefighters Association, the most popular organization in the city, recently reached an important milestone. 20 years ago, Scottsdale took over its Fire Department from Rural Metro. To mark this moment in time, Rose + Allyn helped the Association launch its Fireside Chat initiative. Firefighters are making themselves available to answer questions about what they do, how they do it, and how residents can stay safe. Through a new newsletter, as well as ongoing community events, the Association is achieving its goals. It’s also serving the greater good through some generous donations to worthwhile organizations which received deserved media recognition thanks to Rose + Allyn’s efforts.

Rose + Allyn also produced the Association’s annual charity dinner which has become one of the city’s premier charitable gatherings. With a goal of exceeding last year’s record-breaking $100,000 raised, the evening celebrated both the selfless work of Scottsdale’s 300 firefighters, and showcased heroes in the community such as Max Ashton, an advocate for the blind at the Foundation of Blind Children (FBC), Autumn Curiel, an advocate against teen violence and co-founder of “Justice 4 Preston Lord”, and Darryl James “D.J.” Foster, a former running back for the New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals, and current Director of Player Development at ASU.

Investing in Scottsdale

As a business based in Scottsdale, Rose + Allyn has always encouraged hometown investment. It’s one of the reasons Jason Rose helped co-found Scottsdale Community Bank and has overseen its extensive outreach which includes “The Vault” business club showcasing Arizona’s leading business innovators.

Keeping Scottsdale Healthy

HonorHealth has been a driving force in Scottsdale for decades and its one of the reasons the city is known for its quality healthcare. Rose + Allyn has been working with HonorHealth to preserve and enhance that well-deserved reputation.

Assistant Coach

Rose + Allyn is honored to help ASU Football Coach Kenny Dillingham with his communication and outreach needs outside the football universe. When demands are infinite and time is finite, even the most skilled tactician could use some assistance.

EVIT: Experienced Education Innovators.

EVIT (East Valley Institute of Technology) has been educating students for more than 30 years offering career training for East Valley high school students with an emphasis on workforce preparedness, long before it was trendy. Rose + Allyn was proud to assist in spreading the word on the innovative programs EVIT offers its students.

We were also called into service when a handful of school districts resisted findings from Arizona’s Auditor General which called for more accountability when it comes to school district satellite programs backed by EVIT. Rather than honor those findings, the districts decided to sue.

Rose + Allyn made sure EVIT’s commitments to educating students and fiscal responsibility were articulated in media coverage.

From Humble Beginnings to America’s Most Attended Polo Event

The Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships celebrated its 14th edition this past November in Scottsdale with six exhilarating matches, 13,137 attendees, two full days of festivities and plenty of patriotism, surprises, memorable moments and three Valley mayors took part — Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky, and Paradise Valley Mayor Mark Stanton. It’s hard to believe the event started with two thousand attendees and a handful of local players. Rose + Allyn created an event that has put Scottsdale on the map as a polo destination.

The Art Of Creating An Amazing Art Fair

Rose + Allyn is one of the owners of a Scottsdale art fair that is drawing artists and galleries from all over the world in its second year. The 2025 inaugural Scottsdale Art  Week featured 106 galleries and drew 14,000 attendees while generating millions of dollars in sales. The quality of the event and its success drew national acclaim. This year Scottsdale Art Week presented by Scottsdale Ferrari returns March 19-22nd at WestWorld of Scottsdale.

It will feature art from more than 120 galleries from 18 countries, as well as local art. It is America’s first art fair with an emphasis on indigenous expression. This impressive growth is rewriting the rules in establishing art fairs and more importantly it is establishing Scottsdale’s deserved prominence in the art community.
