Wales Polo Team Captain to test speed on horseback against a Bentley between Saturday matches at America’s most attended polo event
He’s played on the sport’s biggest stages and battled its biggest stars, and now, Wales Polo Team Captain Ricky Cooper is set to take on what may well be his speediest opponent yet: a 2026 Bentley GT. Atop his trusted polo pony, Cooper will line up for a first-of-its-kind race against the ultimate symbol of speed, luxury and style in a never-before-seen spectacle fans can only catch at the Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships.
Set to take place between matches Saturday, Nov. 8 during the two-day event at WestWorld of Scottsdale, the Cooper vs. Bentley matchup will deliver a high-octane, head-to-head contest to determine what kind of “horsepower” reigns supreme.
“The Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships have a history of pushing the envelope, and this race is sure to take things to an entirely new level,” said Cooper. “It’ll be fast, it’ll be fun, and it’ll redefine everything fans think they know about polo.”
In addition to taking on a Bentley atop his horse, Cooper, alongside teammates Matias Amaya and Mikey Henderson, will comprise the Wales Polo Team, founded in 2008 under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Charles (now King Charles III). The trio will take to the field at 2 p.m. Saturday Nov. 8.
The defending champions, Wine Country/Napa Valley Polo Club, in one of the event’s most anticipated matchups. Beyond traditional polo matches, this year’s festivities, which take place right before Veterans Day, will also include the first-ever Army vs. Navy showdown at noon Saturday as well as “Battle of the Sexes” and “International All-Stars” matches, set for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday, respectively.
The full weekend of fanfare will also include an assortment of new and returning elements, from the Canine Couture Fashion Show by Lugari Pet Salon and the World’s Longest Catwalk by Phoenix Fashion Week to the return of the Casamigos DayClub and Barrett-Jackson Champagne & Jazz Lounge, the latter of which will feature a new open-air format. This year’s event will also take place alongside the WestWorld Art & Wine Experience, a weekend-long special event featuring live music, 100 nationally juried artists and craftsman and gourmet food and wine, among other draws.
“While the polo matches are the heart of this event, we’ve always strived to create experiences fans can’t find anywhere else,” said Bentley Scottsdale Polo Championships Co-Founder Jason Rose. “Seeing Ricky Cooper go head-to-head against a Bentley definitely falls into this category, and it’s something fans will be talking about long after the dust settles on the field.”
