The Question Unasked

Did Scottsdale PD do a good job or a bad job dealing with looters and criminals on Saturday night?  It’s all anyone in town is talking about, including Governor Ducey.  Notably, he is encouraging cities to handle any future situations like Phoenix, not Scottsdale.  PD has made up some public opinion ground with spin and goal post moving after the fact, but the mood by most remains one of shock and anger.

Despite all the commentary from mayoral and council candidates, incumbents and media no one has yet pursued the key question:  Was Scottsdale offered help from other municipalities, the Governor’s Office or other public safety officials BEFORE the shit hit the fan?

The Scottsdale spin has been that no help was available when the crisis hit.  But before?

That is THE question.  But perhaps there is another too . . . who made the call to stand down?
