Sometimes editorials, ours included, don’t need to be long to convey key points. Such is the case with the Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board’s recent decision to appoint Dr. John Kriekard as Interim Superintendent.
It’s kind to call recent months in the district tumultuous. That’s why we can think of few, if any better people than Kriekard to calm the waters and restore a decency and diplomacy to the Superintendent’s Office.
Kriekard has had many Scottsdale stops in his career including Ingleside Middle School and Chaparral High School. He’s one of those rare individuals it’s hard to find anyone who says something negative about.
Which is exactly he’s perfect for tumultuous times with Scottsdale schools. Like an experienced captain during stormy seas Kriekard’s steady hand is precisely what is needed now.
