I am excited about the opportunity to continue serving the great residents of District 3 and I hope you will support me as I run for County Supervisor for District 3. BILL GATES ANNOUNCES HIS INTENT TO RUN FOR MARICOPA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AND SALUTES KUNASEK’S SERVICE
Phoenix, AZ – Today, Bill Gates announced his intent to run for Maricopa County Board of Supervisors District 3, upon current Supervisor Andy Kunasek’s announcement that he will not be seeking reelection.
“I have been a long time supporter of Supervisor Kunasek. He has represented District 3 on the Board of Supervisors with distinction. I’ve admired Andy’s focus on fiscal accountability, public safety, and community service,” stated Councilman Gates. “Since my first day on the Phoenix City Council, I have always fought to protect the hardworking taxpayers of our city and I will continue to do so as Supervisor.”
While on Council, Councilman Gates’ priorities have been fiscal responsibility; economic development; fighting blight; encouraging innovation; finding efficiencies; and improving public safety. Gates chairs the Finance, Efficiency, Economy & Sustainability Subcommittee, which has identified over $100 million in efficiency savings.
“It is an honor to serve the wonderful people of Phoenix and Council District 3, and with the encouragement of my friends, family and supporters, I am running for Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and look forward to continuing my service there,” concluded Gates.
In addition to his post on the City Council, Councilman Gates is Associate General Counsel & Director of Distribution for PING, a Phoenix-based golf equipment manufacturer. Prior to working for PING in 2001, Councilman Gates was an associate at the firm of Fennemore Craig, practicing commercial litigation with an emphasis in property tax litigation. He has served in a variety of capacities with nonprofit and community organizations and he is currently a board member for the Foundation for Blind Children, The Phoenix Symphony, and Disabled Sports USA. Councilman Gates is a graduate of Deer Valley High School in Glendale, Arizona. He attended Drake University where he received his bachelor’s degree in political science and economics in 1993 and he graduated from Harvard Law School in 1996. Councilman Gates is married and has two daughters.
