Ducey Outlines Early Path On When To Reopen Economy

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey outlined in a series of tweets his early dialogues and thought process for reopening the economy and businesses while balancing that with COVID-19 pandemic’s public health concerns.

President Donald Trump and governors in other states including California, Texas, New York and Florida are also trying to navigate the Coronavirus and reopening the economy.

Here are Ducey’s posts on Twitter yesterday talking about his process.

“Safety and our economy go hand in hand. From my vantage point, I want to get the economy moving and people back to work as soon as possible — when it is safe and healthy for people to do so.

In the coming days, my team and I will be working closely w/ business leaders & reps from sectors such as restaurants, retail & tourism on plans for an Economic Recovery. This input along w/ advice from health officials & data will guide our decisions at the appropriate time.

Arizona’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected” order is in effect through April 30 — and slowing the spread of #COVID19 remains our number one focus.

Arizonans’ efforts to physical distance and make responsible choices are working. It’s critical that we keep those efforts up as we plan for the future and a time when we can begin to return some normalcy to people’s lives.”
